About Me

Hyekyung Jung is a third-year Ph.D. student in the Department of English, University of Miami. Her research interests are women’s literature, gender and sexuality studies, friendship, emotion and masculinity, travel writing, and women’s domestic works in literature.

Before beginning her Ph.D. program at the University of Miami, Hyekyung earned her BA and MA at Ewha Womans University, South Korea, where she studied History and English Literature. Her BA thesis focused on Ito Hirobumi, the first Prime Minister in Japan, and in her MA thesis, she explored the paradox of Chivalry and Romance as an educational tool in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.

She worked as an administrative and research assistant and editorial coordinator at the Institute of English and American Studies, Ewha Womans University; the Institute of Integrated Humanities, Korean National Open University, and a program coordinator at Korean National Commission for UNESCO.
